Esperance to Busselton (Western Australia)
Esperance is famous for their Pink Lakes and white beaches, but the only pink lake you can drive to is a faded Pink, not as vibrant as the ones you need a helicopter to get to.
This is a helicopter ride to see this one
This is the faded pink one near the town
The pink colour comes from the green ala Dunaliella salina and the bacterium Halobacterium cutirubrum.
The caravan park here was "dog friendly" but you had to have them tied up all the time, so Jayne "Tied" Bailey up!
Bailey all "tied up"
They take a $30 cash deposit and if your dog breaks any of the rules you lose your $30! So Bailey was on his best behaviour. He's such a good dog, and doesn't cause us any problems.
.
Esperance has the most spectacular beaches and we think it's a toss up between here and Roebuck Bay in Broome as Australia's best beaches.
.
We headed down to Albany, where the beaches continued. The free camping options are just amazing around here.

We free camped at Betty's Beach, 20kms outside Albany. The most incredible camp so far.
From Albany, we headed inland to Bridgetown, the only Heritage listed town in WA. The camping there was full due to a country music festival nearby. So we were put in the "overflow" section of the caravan park, with lots of others. It turned out to be quite good and we had the only green grass in the place.
Lunch at the Bridgetown Pub, famous for their Steak Sandwiches, very nice but we've had better
Jayne waiting for some friends to turn up
Redback spider in Nannup. We certainly have big spiders in Australia!
Jayne made me put this shot in to prove I also nap while she's driving. Better than napping while I'm driving!
We rode down to Busselton Jetty for coffee this morning. Very civilised indeed
Tomorrow (22nd February) we drive to Perth and we fly home on 23rd so I get a new right hip to match my already new left hip. Hopefully we will fly back to Perth on 8th March. So this will be the last entry in the blog until we arrive back.
