Stranded in
Broome
If we had a map of Australia and were asked where we would
like to be broken down the most, we would pick Broome in every case.
We were towed into Broome last Friday, it’s now 7 days
later and we still don’t have our broken Touareg back. But at least the part is
here and it’s in the car, it just needs a 4 wheel alignment this morning and
then we’re told we will get it. But “Broome time” and everything else has worked
against us this week in getting the car fixed.
Last Monday I had told our mechanic that the part we needed
wasn’t in Perth, but he insisted that he had located one and it was to be flown
up overnight. But it wasn’t the right part. With much frustration I ascertained
the part was in Sydney but the mechanic kept saying he was getting it until he
finally admitted until Tuesday afternoon when I just told him I was going to get
it freighted from Sydney. So I ordered it to get delivered on Wednesday morning
to our VW dealer in Sydney. Despite me sending the photo of the broken part to
them, they got the wrong part and then we had to get the correct part delivered
to them again.
This was ok, as the next flight into Broome was Thursday
morning anyhow and we could still make this flight if they got it Wednesday
afternoon.
So come Thursday morning and the flight from Perth to Broome is delayed due to the plane crash Wednesday night at Broome airport! http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/pilot-dies-in-broome-plane-crash-20120711-21wq9.html
I picked the part up at Broome airport with an hours delay
and delivered it to the mechanic. At least it was the correct part. But as we
lost yet another hour, the car wasn’t ready yesterday as planned.
Another day in paradise for us.
If I had of organised the part from the start we would have
had it here on Tuesday!
Oh well, Broome is fantastic, and if we get the car today,
we’re staying another day and leaving Saturday.
At least we have a nice shiny new Falcon XR6 to drive
around Broome in.
