Back to Broome
After the stunning beauty of Middle Lagoon going back to Broome seemed a little disappointing.
Although Broome is really nice, its hard to beat the vast and stunning beauty that the Dampier Peninsular and Cape Leveque offers.
We had to stay at the Broome Caravan Park as it's the only one that will take dogs and they only do this after the 1st September when it's Shoulder Season. They have a really nice pool, which we didn't use and the most amazing shower heads for a Caravan Park that we've ever come across.
We normally only shower in our van, but when we saw these babies we changed to using their showers. They mustn't have water restrictions in Broome. We certainly used our fair share of water!
One of the main reasons for us going back to Broome was to pickup Bailey who was flying from Sydney to join us. Alexis had to be at the airport with him at 5.30 am for him to get on his flight to Perth. He was then to have a 5 hour stopover in Perth before he joined his flight to Broome to arrive at 5.45 pm when we were to collect him. We were told he would be in their VID lounge during these 5 hours, and although this wasn't ideal it had to be (as far as we were told).
At lunch time whilst Jayne was in the shop I looked up the status of his flight from Perth to Broome only to find it had been cancelled. My heart sunk. According to the information I could see there weren't other flights from Perth to Broome that day. When Jayne came out of the shop, she rang Jet Pets, who were organising his flights and transfers to find out what was going on.
After some time waiting Jet Pets confirmed that yes the flight was cancelled, and that Bailey was on the earlier flight to Broome and was going to arrive in 30 minutes. Panic stations hit, and luckiy Broome isn't that big and we made it to the gate to pick him up in time. So he only had 60 minutes in the VID "Doggie Lounge" which was actually much better, if only we were informed.
Bailey in his cage. We were asked for ID before they would hand him over. He was going crazy waiting.
He was really happy to see us as we were to see him!
Enjoying his first Cable Beach sunset.
Barn Hill Station
After the busy state of Broome, complete with traffic and roundabouts, we were relieved to move 130kms down the road to Barn Hill Station, where we were able to secure the "best" camping spot in the place after our first night in the second best spot.
From our van we're enjoying sweeping views of turquoise water, red cliffs & golden sand beaches. Quite amazing.

Looking back from the beach.
We had to bath him after his stressful flight.
His home away from home, with a view.
Looks comfortable doesn't he?
.
Beach soccer.
He enjoyed the surf until he was "dumped" by the waves.
This morning we were in the van and were heard crackling, I thought it was someone chopping wood outside our van, but it was Bailey's Soccer Ball exploding from the heat. Yes it is hot up here! The ball was hanging in the sun.
We travelled to Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat for lunch from Barn Hill. Its only 10kms up the road from here, but you have to go out 10kms on a dirt and corrugated road and then its another 10kms along a good dirt road to Eco Beach, so in all a 30km trip. It was an amazing place which was destroyed by a Tropical Cyclone a couple of years ago and rebuilt since. The lunch was very civilised on their deck. Jayne was very happy she didn't have to cook.

Their "Infinity Pool" isn't as nice as Lake Argyle Caravan Park, but not bad.
Next post there won't be as many pictures of Bailey, unless they are exceptional! :)
Our next major stop will be Ningaloo Station and Ningaloo Reef. This will be as close to paradise as Dampier Peninsular and the reef is better than the Great Barrier Reef. We've secured a campsite right on the sand at South Lefroy.
There isn't any phone or internet service there, so our next update will be when we come back to some sort of civilisation.
