Yowie Bay to Blackall (Queensland)

Sunrise over the ocean at South West Rocks.

We left home as planned on 11th June.

Our first nights stop was at South West Rocks at the Trial Bay Goal camping area. The best thing about this place is the "overflow" camping area, which you have access to when you arrive after office hours.

This is right at the waters edge, & is way better than the proper camping area, which is away from the water, no water views and rather crowded. We had the whole overflow area to ourselves besides one other camper van. Just great.

The sunrise over the ocean is really good, and in a few months if all goes well, we'll get to see the sunset over the ocean.  What a vast country we live in!

Kingscliff was our next stop and we camped on the beach again.

Kingscliff Beach Caravan Park.

We stayed at the Lawnton Showgrounds in Brisbane to get new brakes fitted to the Kedron. The guy who did them was amazed that our van had done nearly 80,000kms on the brakes we had & that at least 20,000kms of this was on dirt roads. He said our Kedron was in great condition. We also had 3 new batteries fitted as they normally only last 3-4 years. We got nearly 5 years out of ours!

It was very cold when we camped in Bell at the Bells and Whistle's Caravan Park. The electric blanket was fitted and we enjoyed a nice warm night.

We stopped at Jimbour House, which was amazing. Imagine building a house this big out there years ago. These pommies were certainly crazy.

Then a night at Neil Turner Weir where we had our first campfire. There wasn't much water in the weir this year due to the drought.

When we were in Charleville we camped at the Charleville Bush Camp, not only is this a really good caravan park, very clean & the amenities are spotless and well appointed, they don't allow smokers anywhere within their park, nor dogs and kids are discouraged. We couldn't help thinking Russ would love this place!

The Bush Camp Toilet Dump was interesting!

While cooking an excellent roast beef rib, Jayne thought our veggies needed more roughage, so she dropped them in the dirt. After a wash in hot water, they were edible but crunchy!

Tonight we're off to a pub in Blackall to watch the State Of Origin. Go the Blues!
