Parachilna - 23 May
After Broken Hill we headed further
west into South Australia and have now met up with Roy and Marg – the friends we
met last year when we travelled around Australia.
They live in Perth, so we arranged to meet them in
the Flinders Ranges, which is about half way.
It was a strange experience meeting them after such
a long time.
We gave each other big hugs and have had many beers and
laughs with them since.
We drove together to Parachilna and
camped in the old school yard just a short walk away from the Prairie Hotel.
The pub is in the middle of nowhere, but people come
from far and wide to try the “Feral Food” menu.
For lunch we had 3 mini hamburgers – goat, emu and
kangaroo.
For dinner we had a platter with emu pate, kangaroo salami,
bush olives, goat cheese and all kinds of weird goodies on the plate.
Quite a few movies have been made here with the
Flinders Ranges as a backdrop, so there are photos of movie stars and other
famous faces in their albums.
