Goombaragin - Home - Bundanoon - Goombaragin
We had an enjoyable and relaxing 3 nights at Goombaragin before we flew home for 10 nights. It was great to catch up with our family and friends. We also loved our time with Bailey who still wakes up with a smile on his face, but at nearly 16 years old is very vague and slow to get around.
The sunsets there are always special at Goombaragin.
Owners of Goombaragin Kathleen and John let us leave our van here, and we parked our car in storage at Roebuck Smash Repairs for $10/day.

It was really good to catch up with our kids and grandkid Casper. He's such a great little boy and we certainly missed them all.
We hired a MotorHome to go to Bundanoon, which was a real beast.
We suffered a 30°C temperature difference the first night at Bundanoon, it was 33° when we left Broome, and only 3° when we arrived at Bundanoon, getting to -1.5° overnight.
We did a couple of walks while we were there.

Naturally we headed to the Bundanoon Pub for dinner and a few beers.
Lisa, Sue, Russ and Chuck cooked up a real feast for us, crisp pork belly and yummy apple crumble!
All set up in the camp kitchen, with standing heater in the corner
and gas heater underneath the woollen blanket to keep us toasty warm sitting down
Due to a Covid lockdown in Melbourne and WA closing their border to people that have been in Victoria without going into quarantine, we decided to fly direct to Perth from Sydney.
We stayed overnight in Perth before flying to Broome next day.
We had a crazy experience on the plane just as we touched down in Perth.
A young guy in the row alongside us had an epileptic fit. He was a big guy throwing his arms and body around in the middle seat, banging into the seat in front of his. It was quite scary and concerning.
The passengers on either side (who weren’t connected with him) yelled for help and Qantas staff came running while the plane was still taxiing and tried to lay him across the seats.
They called for anyone with medical expertise and 3 random doctors came running.
They gave him oxygen while they waited for Airport doctors and then ambulance guys.
Nobody could get off the plane so the aisles were left free. Poor guy eventually came to but was really vague. They contacted his sister who was waiting at the airport to pick him up who said he’d had fits before. We were right up the back so took ages to get off the plane.
Eventually off the plane and passed a policemen in the aerobridge with a very loud announcement “YOU WILL HAVE YOUR HANDS SANITIZED BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH THE GLASS DOORS”. And were squirted by airport personnel and temperature checked.
Then the 3rd degree from the WA G2G police. A very expensive option to have fully armed police meeting every plane and every road border crossing!
We landed in Broome at 1:45pm, and the announcement from the pilot was music to my ears "We are about t land in Broome where it's 29°" just perfect. We then retrieved our car and then raced to do grocery shopping for the next 7+ days. We also picked up some supplies for Kathleen at Goombaragin. We arrived at Goombaragin later than we hoped and the sun had just set.
We were hoping to be there before it got dark to move and setup the van, but the best laid plans were modified yet again.
We're here at Goombaragin for 6 nights before we move 40kms to Middle Lagoon. Surprisingly it's much cooler than when we left 11 days ago. The temperature is dropping about 1° per day now. So we have chilly 20° mornings, but this is still 20 more than in Bundanoon!
We've decided to come home via the Tanami Road, and then the Plenty and Donohue Highways. They aren't really highways as they are dirt and sometimes badly corrugated dirt roads.
This should get us home by 31st July, barring any van or car issues.
