Kununurra to Broome

Kununurra

We needed two nights in Kununurra to do shopping and other things after having our fresh fruit and vegetables stripped bare by the West Australia Border Quarantine station.

In Kununurra we love going to the Pump House restaurant for a sunset dinner.

On the way to Derby we stopped for a night at Little Panton River, a nice free camp by a dry creek.

Derby

In Derby Bailey turned into a teenager and we celebrated his 13th birthday. He got a lamington! Which he loved.

It was nice to be back in civilisation where we could walk to a cafe for morning coffee and cake

We went to the old Derby Wharf for sunset drinks twice. Its a ride from the caravan park across the mud flats.  We brought our little fold up chairs for this holiday as well as our normal camping chairs, but wondered if we'd ever use them.  They've been used heaps so far, and we're able to strap them to our bikes which makes it great for rides like this.

Broome

Ahh, Broome! Definitely one of our favourite places, and it never seems to disappoint although we're here during school holidays so lots of kids around.

We met up with our friends from Perth, Merv and Jen who were on their way to Darwin.  We got to spend 3 days with them at the Broome Caravan Park. Of course we had to go down onto Cable Beach for sunset drinks to celebrate on our first night together.  Jen loves to cook, and had made a delicious dinner for when we got back from the beach.  The following days we had scrumptious carrot cake, and even got some to take away with us.  Thanks Jen.

Bailey playing Frisbee on Cable Beach, he was a puppy again!

The camels! Of course

Then it just had to be Matso's for lunch. Especially after I missed it last time we were here as I was in hospital then.
